Mission Endure 51: 5 Uses for PVC Pipe
Painting Rack
Two days ago I was refurbishing an old toolbox where I had to spray paint several small pieces. I was trying to find the right place to put the small pieces so I could spray paint them without getting paint on everything. I had an idea, what if I build a small rack of PVC and use it to hang the small pieces from while I paint them. I could use it outdoors and not worry about getting spray paint all over the garage. Here is a photo of what I built. It worked well. Nothing complicated, nothing glued together, only the most simple and easy PVC Rack I could build. That got me thinking about other uses of PVC Pipe. Below are a few more
That got me thinking about all the other great uses there are for PVC Pipe. I believe PVC Pipe might be one of the most adaptable building materials ever made. Here are 15 different uses for PVC pipe around the house. Some are obvious, and some aren’t.
Tomato Cages
PVC Pipe can be used as a handy and reusable cage for holding up your tomatoes. You can make the cages according to the type of tomatoes that you grow, as the pipes are so malleable you can create them for whatever size you need! Again, you can choose to glue them together with PVC cement or you can just dry fit them together to give you pieces of PVC you can reuse for different projects.
Cucumber Trellis
Cucumbers can be grown on the ground but similar to tomatoes, they can also be grown on a trellis. The PVC pipes will keep the trellis sturdy and give your cucumbers plenty of space to climb.
Garden Tool Holders
Not all of us like to plant a garden, but most of us have a garage full of tools, such as rakes, hoes, and clippers. We all need somewhere to put our tools and help organize them. A PVC holder is the ideal solution. Attach them to your wall, or shed, and hang up your tools until you’re finished work and get to gardening!
Hydroponic Gardening
PVC pipe is a great way to hold and route water, so it makes a great aquaponic garden. All you have to do is, cap the ends and drill holes for the size of plants you have. Then you have the perfect medium for running your hydroponic solution to your plants. Gardening without soil!
